In this betting guide, I’ll share my Jones vs Miocic prediction and provide you with the best odds available with the top bookmakers in Ireland.
💯 Jones vs Miocic Betting Odds
With plenty of excitement around UFC 309 with Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic headlining the heavyweight event, many Irish bookies already have Jones vs Miocic betting odds available. Below, I have selected the best betting sites in Ireland with the odds they’re offering for this highly anticipated bout.
Player | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Jon Jones | 1.14 | 1.12 | 1.13 | 1.14 |
Stipe Miocic | 5.84 | 5.10 | 5.12 | 5.66 |
Ireland’s top bookmakers are heavily favouring Jones to win this bout. I’m not surprised seeing as Bones is the division’s reigning champion. Plus, Miocic hasn’t entered the ring since March 2021.
At the current odds, punters putting their money on Jon Jones to defeat Stipe Miocic can expect to get a €114 profit with a €100 bet on the favourite with DirectionBet. However, if you think Miocic will somehow come out on top, a €100 bet with the same bookmaker at odds of 5.84 will return a nice €584 profit on the underdog.
My Prediction: Jon Jones to Win🥊
⚡ Jon Jones Overview
Albuquerque’s Jon Jones, with an overall MMA record of 27 wins, 1 loss, and 0 draws, will have his 30th UFC fight when he takes on Miocic on November 17th at the Madison Square Garden in New York City for UFC 309. Since joining the UFC, he has served two doping bans and is currently the youngest champion in UFC history after winning the light-heavyweight title when he was only 23 years old. During his time at the light-heavyweight, he was an unstoppable force in the division, defeating the likes of Cormier, Ryan Bader, Mauricio Rua, Lyoto Machida, Vitor Belfort, and Rashad Evans.
Now 37, many consider Jones the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, but he’s hinted that his fight against Miocic might be his last MMA fight. Currently the UFC heavyweight champion after choking Ciryl Gane to give up the title in 2023, Jones is capable of stopping, submitting, and outclassing most of his opponents.
According to Jon Jones UFC statistics, the reigning champ at 6ft 4in, currently has 10 stoppages and seven submissions and holds the record as the most successful title defences in light-heavyweight history. Jones has only gone the distance 10 times since going pro and has a 58% striking accuracy and a 45% takedown accuracy.
⭐ Stipe Miocic Overview
Ohio’s Stipe Miocic is considered the most consistent heavyweight champion in UFC history, having captured the title twice. He also holds the record for the most successful heavyweight title defences since the inception of the UFC. The 42-year-old has taken on a who’s who of heavyweights over the years and has won outstanding fighters like Francis Ngannou, Andrei Arlovski, Daniel Cormier, and Fabricio Werdum.
The former heavyweight champ will be entering the Octagon after a three-and-a-half-year hiatus since suffering a second-round TKO defeat to Francis Ngannou in 2021. I don’t remember anyone who has successfully defended a heavyweight UFC title more than Stipe Miocic as he’s tied with all-time great Randy Couture when it comes to the most wins in title bouts.
Stipe Miocic fight statistics show that since going pro in 2010, the big-hitter has had 15 stoppages in 20 wins and has only lost four of his fights with zero draws. Those defeats came against Ngannou, Cormier, Stefan Struve, and Junior dos Santos. Stipe Miocic is known for using his excellent striking and cardio to knock out his opponents and he also has the most finishes (four) in UFC heavyweight title bouts. At 6ft 4in, 75% of his wins have come by way of knockout, 0% by submission, and 25% by decision, and he currently sits in the 8th position in UFC heavyweight rankings.
🏆 Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic Fight History
Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic have never come up against each other, so this will be their first encounter inside the Octagon. The pair were originally scheduled to meet in October 2023, but Bones had to withdraw from the event after suffering from a torn pectoral muscle in training.
With Jones off the card, an interim title bout between Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich was booked with Aspinall winning the fight and claiming the interim title with a 69-second knockout. With Jones back from injury, the winner of this Jones vs Stipe fight card will face interim UFC heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall in the next outing.
💥 Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic: The Long Road to the Match
So, what does my Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic Prediction look like?
Well, I know for sure that Jones and Miocic will be vying to end the long debate over who deserves the hold the heavyweight title. Plus, both heavyweights have spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines. Jones has not had a fight since beating Ciryl Cane in March 2023 to grab the heavyweight title via first-round submission. On his part, Miocic has not fought since March 2021 after suffering a second-round TKO defeat against Francis Ngannou.
Jones will be looking to defend the belt while Miocic will try to bounce back from the humiliating defeat he suffered in Ngannou’s hands as he looks to reclaim his title. The UFC heavyweight title remained vacant after Francis Ngannou left the promotion as a free agent to sign with the PFL in 2023. Jon Jones isn’t known for having the ridiculous knockout power as Miocic, so can only beat Stipe through four rounds at least. Plus, Jones is just returning from an injury which might have an effect on his performance and power during the fight.
However, seeing as Jones has already hinted that this might be his last MMA fight, I have no doubt that he will want to retire with the belt in hand. For one thing, Miocic has not fought in over three years and is well out of his fighting prime at 42 years old. You might argue that Jones is also out of his fighting prime but he’s still five years younger than the former title holder. In his prime, Miocic would have given Bones the knockout of his life, but it’s hard to see the two-time champion winning this bout after such a long hiatus.
