🔍 Scotland v Italy Match Winner Prediction

A lot of rugby fans think this one may end in a draw as two nervous sides focus more on trying out new tactics and end up feeling each other out for 80 minutes. I don't share that viewpoint. I don't see this Scotland v Italy test ending that way exactly for that reason: neither side will want to play a safe game, and things will be hotly contested till the final whistle. After a hard fought competition, however, I see Scotland getting the big W. They have the history books behind them, have the home advantage, and have been significantly upping the quality of their gameplay in recent years.

Will it be a run-away match? Probably not, as Scotland may not feel to risk their more experienced players so early on. I believe Scotland will do the business by eight points.

1️⃣ Match Winner: Scotland to Win

Odds of Scotland to win at 1.16 at LeoVegas Sports certainly aren't the shortest odds I've ever seen, but making €0.16 for every €1.00 you stake isn't a lot of return. You would have to stake quite a lot to get back what some would consider a sizeable return, but then you always have the risk that Scotland treat this as a throw-away match, Italy romp to a shock win, and you are left with nothing back from your bet. My opinion? A match-winner bet may not be the one for this game.

2️⃣ Handicap Winner: Scotland to Win (-7.5)

For me, in my humble opinion, this is where things start to get a little more interesting. The bookies seem stuck as to which team may prevail when you start to get to the ±13/14 mark. Personally, I see this game ending up with a score difference of eight. Working on that logic, a bet of Scotland to win (-7.5) at 1.38 at TonyBet may pique your interest - €0.38 per €1.00 you stake perhaps offering better value than €0.16 for a match-winner bet. Of course, as with all things, there's a balance: a better potential return means greater risk. Scotland not quite turning up to play at their best but still scraping a win of three points, for example, would still see you lose this bet. Think wisely on how you gamble and what you are willing to spend!

3️⃣ Both Halves: Scotland to Win

My favourite betting tip for this match is to look at Scotland to win both halves at 1.62 at BoyleSports. Rather than having to be precise about the final scoreboard, the bet would be successful if Scotland were to be leading in the first half and then to win by the final whistle. You can grab over three times the return, not including getting your stake back as well, compared to a match-winner bet, and it won't matter if Scotland win by 1 point in both halves or by 1 million, as long as, crucially, they are winning in the first half and go on to win the match. Downsides to this bet? I can't say it enough - there are no guarantees in sports. If Scotland win the match, even by a landslide, but Italy are a whisker in front or the score is tied at the end of the first half, say goodbye to your stake. That means one scrappy bit of play in a ruck-cum-kicked penalty by gli Azzurri could be all that is needed to ruin your bet.
