Match prediction 13 of 18 of our Summer Internationals 2023 betting series.
Steven's prediction accuracy 2023: ✔️ 89.29%.
We're getting into the business end of the Summer Internationals, with the 25th of August giving us the first match of week 5, New Zealand v South Africa at Twickenham. Kick-off will be 7.30 p.m., and I think rugby fans are in for a treat as the two joint record holders for Rugby World Cup titles will battle it out for supremacy.
The referee officiating this test will be Englishman Matthew Carley, who some may remember for his work in the Six Nations 2023, when he took charge of Italy v France.
With a test history of 103 games - the All Blacks having dominated 61, 38 going the way of the Wallabies, and four ending in a draw - I feel the long-running rivalry between the two sides will result in an explosion of play come Friday night. The last time the two sides played each other was in July of this year, in the Rugby Championship, when the All Blacks were clear victors at 35-20. Will rugby fans see more of the same or will the Springboks get in a crucial win before the start of September? Read the rest of my New Zealand v South Africa prediction to find out!

➕ New Zealand v South Africa Handicap 3-Way Odds
The bookies don't see a lot of margin in this game, with single figures of 5-6 points showing just how close things may be. The bookmakers have bumped up the odds, however, so this may turn out an interesting market.

For those that disagree with the bookies and think this game may be much wider on the final scoreboard, there are much longer odds available. Potential reward, however, equates to much more risk. See the full options below.

🔍 New Zealand v South Africa Match Winner Prediction
The history between New Zealand v South Africa, both long- and short-term, predicts that the All Blacks will be the winners of this encounter. Do I agree? I think so. New Zealand have yet to play in the Summer Nations Series, but they have already won the Rugby Championship, back in July, and look in good form to repeat their success in this Rugby World Cup warm-up. That's not completely to write-off South Africa's quality, given that they have already comfortably won two Summer Internationals tests so far - Argentina v South Africa in week two and Wales v South Africa last weekend - but I believe this will only prove to alleviate some of the bruising rather than to prevent it. Overall, I think it's going to be the All Blacks all the way, and I expect to see at least a 10-point gap by the 80-minute mark.
My New Zealand v South Africa match winner prediction: New Zealand to win!
✔️ New Zealand v South Africa Betting Tips
1️⃣ Match Winner: New Zealand to Win
I like this one. I think New Zealand to win at 1.46 at LeoVegas Sports is a competitive price for a straight-up match winner. Both teams are close in quality, and I think it is going to be a close game, so for those that want to leave handicap betting to one side, I think this could be a good bet.

2️⃣ Handicap Winner: New Zealand to Win (-5.5)
I've had to think about this market a lot. I think this will be at least a 10-point game, which has left me umming and ahing about whether I would stick within 10 points and go for New Zealand to win (-5.5) at 1.92 at LeoVegas Sports or would push to New Zealand (-11.5) at 3.00 at Betway. The All Blacks certainly have the quality to beat tier-one teams by 15 or even 20 points, but faced with tougher competiton, I think I am going to err on the side of caution and go with LeoVegas's offer out of the two.
3️⃣ Both Halves: New Zealand to Win Both Halves
Whilst I am tempted by the potential return of New Zealand to win both halves at 1.91 at BoyleSports, I don't think I would go for this market. South Africa will come out fighting before the break, and New Zealand are also renowned for being a team that can grab victory from the jaws of defeat. I think I would give this one a miss, purely because I am unsure of how things will play out.
