Match Prediction 7 of 15 of our 2025 Six Nations betting series.

Prediction accuracy so far: ✔️ 88.89%.

Wales will bid to end an horrific losing run of 14 matches when they welcome Championship chasing Ireland to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on February 22nd. Kick off for the big match is 14:15 GMT with the Irish looking to build on their opening two victories over England and Scotland, as they bid to make history and win three Six Nations titles in a row. Wales suffered defeats to France and Italy in their first two matches and will somehow have to try and throw the form book out of the window against Ireland to salvage their 2025 Championship.

In the latest of our series of Six Nations predictions, we look ahead to the Wales v Ireland match, discussing betting odds and our prediction. We will also provide betting tips for those who want to bet on the game.

💡 Wales v Ireland Prediction

Wales are suffering a horrendous run of form at the moment, and we just can’t see it ending against Ireland in Cardiff. They have had back-to-back defeats against France and Italy and face the real possibility of going through another Championship without a win.

We don’t think playing at home will offer much comfort to Warren Gatland’s team either as they suffered big losses in November at home, and Cardiff has been a happy hunting ground for Ireland on many occasions during the Six Nations era. Ireland for their part have looked impressive for large parts during their opening two wins against England and Scotland and will win the Triple Crown with a win in Cardiff. If they win in Cardiff, which we fully expect them to do, they will be just two wins away from a fourth Six Nations Grand Slam.

Ireland should win in Cardiff, given their form and the poor form of the Welsh, and we think they will win quite comfortably in the end. Even if the Welsh were to lift their game for the visit of the men in green, we still can’t see it being anywhere good enough to stop an Ireland side chasing history this year.

Our Prediction: 🏆 IRELAND TO WIN 🏆

🎯 Wales v Ireland Six Nations Betting Tips

For those of you that like to bet on six nations matches during the Championship, below, we give you three Wales v Ireland betting tips that might prove useful ahead of the match.

  • Tip 1: Ireland to Win: Ireland are huge favourites to go to Cardiff and beat Wales on Match Day 3 of the 2025 Six Nations and I fully expect them to do so. Wales are on a demoralising 14 game losing streak, and that defeat to Italy probably means they are going to finish bottom of the table for a second year in a row. The sight of a confident and expectant green jersey may spark something in the Welsh given the recent rivalry between the two sides, but I can’t see it altering the result in any way. The Irish have their eye on a third Six Nations in a row this year, and I expect them to dispatch of the Welsh rather comfortably in the end. To have a bet on an Irish win in Cardiff on Match Day 3 of the 2025 Men’s Six Nations you can get a price of 1.02 with TonyBet.
  • Tip 2: Ireland to Win by 21-30 Points: Wales lost their three home November internationals to Fiji, Australia and South Africa by scorelines of 5, 32 and 33 points respectively and have not turned a corner in this year’s Six Nations so far. They have lost 0-43 to France and 15-22 to Italy, so Ireland will be heavily fancied to comfortably dispatch of Warren Gatland’s team in Cardiff on February 22nd. Ireland’s biggest away win against Wales was a 30-point win back in 2001 and I would expect a similar margin when they meet this year. You can get a price of 3.30 with BoyleSports on Ireland winning the match by a margin of 21-30 points.
  • Tip 3: Ireland to Win and over 48.5 Total Points Scored: As I have mentioned above, I fully expect Ireland to go to Cardiff and claim a third win of this year’s Championship. Wales had heavy defeats in November at home and Ireland can take advantage of a leaky Wales defence to score heavily also when they face off in Cardiff. Ireland have scored 59 points in two games thus far, earning two try bonus point wins against England and Scotland, so I would expect them to add another one in Cardiff. You can get a price of 1.90 with TonyBet on Ireland winning the match and the game ending with over 48.5 points scored.

🔴 Team Wales Form

⏪ Wales Six Nations 2024 Form

Wales endured a torrid 2024 Six Nations Championship, losing all five of their matches to finish bottom of the table for the second time during the Six Nations era. They began the Championship with a narrow 26-27 defeat to Scotland in Cardiff, before suffering a 14-16 reversal in Twickenham against England. They were then beaten 7-31 by Ireland in Dublin before a 24-45 loss at home against France on Match Day 4. Wales then rounded off a nightmare tournament by losing 21-24 to Italy in Cardiff.

⏪ Wales Six Nations 2025 Form

Wales started their 2025 Six Nations Championship with a 0-43 loss against France at the Stade de France. They then followed that up with another defeat, this time a 15-22 loss against Italy in Rome. That defeat to Italy means Wales are currently on a 14-game losing streak as they welcome Ireland to Cardiff on Match Day 3.

🟢 Team Ireland Form

⏪ Ireland Six Nations 2024 Form

Ireland won the Six Nations Champions for a second year in a row when they won the 2024 Six Nations Championship. A brilliant away win in France to kickstart the Championship was followed up by wins over Italy and Wales. The Irish then headed to Twickenham to face England but saw their chances of a Grand Slam ended when Marcus Smith dropped an 81st minute goal to earn the English a hard-fought win. Ireland did win the Six Nations Championship on the last day however, beating Scotland 17-13. That success was Ireland’s sixth Six Nations Championship.

⏪ Ireland Six Nations 2025 Form

Ireland’s bid for a history making third consecutive Six Nations Championship began with a 27-22 victory over England in Dublin on Match Day 1. Simon Easterby’s men then followed that up on Match Day 2 with a comfortable 32-18 win against Scotland in Murrayfield. That leaves Ireland as the only unbeaten side left in this year’s tournament as we head into Match Day 3.
