When it comes to flat races, there are not many races in the calendar that are as prestigious as the 1000 Guineas. This is a one-mile-long race that is open to fillies that are three years old and comes with a prize purse of £375,000, with the winner taking home more than £200,000. As this is a Group 1 race, it means that only the best horses are allowed to enter, meaning that there will be plenty of talent on show. Below we are going to give to take a closer look at this race as well as tell you who we think might go on to win it.
When Will the 1000 Guineas Take Place?
The 2022 edition of the 1000 Guineas will be run on Sunday 1st of May at 15:40. There will be other great races taking place before and after the 1000 Guineas, so make sure that you check those out since they can provide you with some great betting opportunities.
If you are thinking about placing a wager on the 1000 Guineas, then you should keep an eye on the horses that have been trained by the legendary trainer that is Aiden O'Brien. He has a stunning record in this race, with five of the last six winners all having been trained by him. His winning horses have been Minding, Winter, Hermosa, Love, and Mother Earth.
Sometimes it is wise to bet on a successful jockey, and one of the most successful jockeys in recent times in the 1000 Guineas has been Ryan Moore - he has been on the winning horse in 2012, 205, 2016, and 2020. So, if you are going to bet on this year's 1000 Guineas, then it might be a wise move to bet on the horse that Moore is riding; if he is participating this year, of course.

1000 Guineas: Our Betting Tips
A couple of days ago, Inspiral was the favourite to win this race, but she has since been ruled out, which means that Tenebrism, a horse trained by O'Brien, is now the new favourite to win and claim the huge prize. To be honest, even if Inspiral had not been ruled out, we probably would not have backed her to go on and win. She has not raced since October 2021 when she won a Group 1 race with Frankie Detorri as her jockey. Additionally, her trainers, John and Thady Gosden have not been that successful as of late, with just four wins from 32 entries across the last couple of weeks.
It is no wonder that Tenebrism, the daughter of Caravaggio, is expected to do well in this race, considering the success she has had lately. The Cheveley Park Stakes champion went two from two last season, following up her first win at Naas. She has never participated in a race that is longer than six furlongs, but we are pretty certain that she has the quality to not let the extra distance get to her. If you want to put your money on Tenebrism to bring O'Brien yet more success in the 1000 Guineas, then you will find that most betting sites are offering odds of 3.75 for her to win.
Discoveries, who is trained by Jessica Harrington, is the second favourite for the 2022 1000 Guineas betting, and this stunning horse was last seen when she won the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at Curragh. If she runs this race to the best of her ability, then it will be no surprise to anyone to see her romp home. Top bookies such as Bet365, Ladbrokes, and Boyle Sports are offering odds of 6.00 for her to be victorious.
O'Brien will have two other horses taking part in this prestigious race, and these are Tuesday and Toy. The former won the Naas Maiden and will be looking to add to that success. If you are the type of punter that loves to place an each-way bet, then we recommend you consider placing one on Tuesday. She is the third favourite to win the race, with the top bookmakers offering odds of 6.00 or 7.00 for her to be the champion. Toy has odds ranging from 17.00 all the way up to 60.00, so we would recommend that you do not place your money on her.
Malavath, trained by Francis-Henri Graffard and Zellie, trained by Andre Fabre, are two other horses in this race that are worth looking out for. These two fine fillies battled it out in a Group 3 race in France not too long ago, with Malavath coming out on top in fine fashion. They are now going to make the trip across to England, and they are two horses that warrant respect. Malavath has odds of 8.00 with bookies such as Bet365, William Hill, and SpreadEx, while Zellie has odds of 11.00 with the same bookies.
Other noticeable entries that could end up causing an upset include Sandrine, Mise En Scene, and Cachet. All three fillies are in fine form, and could land a huge blow in this excellent showpiece event on the 1st of May. This really is a race that you do not want to miss out on.
Who Would We Put Our Money On?
So, as we have made it clear above, there are plenty of horses in this race that has the talent to go on and claim the top prize for their trainer, jockey, and owner. We could sit on the fence and not give you the name of one horse that we think will go on to be the winner, but sitting on the fence is something that we do not like to do. If we were to put our own hard-earned money on a horse in the 1000 Guineas, we would put it on Tenebrism. She is the favourite to win the race, and for good reason too. Also, we think odds of 3.75 are pretty decent for a horse of her calibre. Also, she is trained by O'Brien, and boy does he know how to win this race.
