Clare and Kerry will do battle in the Munster Championship final for the second consecutive year, although the ‘Banner Men’ may not welcome being reminded of this fact. At the TUS Gaelic Grounds in Limerick last year, David and Paudie Clifford ran riot in a 14-point victory for Kerry, as ‘The Kingdom’ recorded a record-extending 84th provincial triumph. Unsurprisingly, Kerry are also the odds-on favourites among Ireland’s best betting sites to win again in 2024, but what are the chances that Clare can spring a surprise at Cusack Park in Ennis?

🏆 Clare vs Kerry Connacht Championship Prediction

Last year’s win was also Kerry’s third successive provincial title win, while Clare haven’t beaten The Kingdom since in a Munster final since 1992. Kerry also won the All-Ireland final in 2022, and the depth and level of quality that exists in their squad earmarks them as one of the teams to beat this time around too.

However, Kerry were far from convincing during their last four victory over Cork, who surged into an early five-point lead despite not defeating their rivals at Killarney since 1995. This may provide hope to an unfancied Clare outfit, with Kerry struggling offensively in the semi-finals and relying on their defensive organisation to stay in the game.

This performance alone is not enough to undermine the brilliance of Kerry’s attackers, however, including the aforementioned Clifford brothers, Seán Ó Shea and midfielder Paul Walsh. It can therefore be hard for opponents to completely shackle Kerry, as while Cork kept both Cliffords quiet in the last four, the in-form Ó Shea made hay in the space he was subsequently afforded.

Clare will face a similar challenge at Cusack Park, and it’s hard to see them being able to mount a serious title tilt in the Munster final if Kerry play anything like their best. In fact, the unconvincing nature of their last four wins over Cork could serve as a wake-up call for The Kingdom, and I’m tipping them to record a fourth successive Munster title win in 2024!

My Prediction: 🏆 Kerry to win!

💯 Clare vs Kerry Munster Championship Odds

Whoever your preferred bookmaker is, there are plenty of engaging football betting markets you can target ahead of the clash between Clare and Kerry. Popular markets here include handicap and winning margin betting, especially given Kerry’s obvious advantage in quality, experience, and pedigree. Of course, The Kingdom are overwhelming favourites in the win market, but how is a Clare victory being priced at the time of writing?

Clare vs Kerry: Match Winner

Incredibly, Kerry are priced as short as 1.02 to defeat Clare and win a fourth successive Munster Championship. These odds imply a 98.03% probability of a win for The Kingdom, while you can back Clare to prevail at around 17.00 to record their first provincial final win over Kerry since 1992. So, they have just a 5.88% chance of achieving this objective, while a draw in normal time remains the statistically least likely outcome with an implied probability of 3.03%.

✔️ Clare vs Kerry - Betting Tips

Whether you want to wager your real money bankroll on this match or leverage one or more of your available free bets, there are plenty of markets that you can target ahead of the Connacht provincial final. So, here are my expert betting tips to help you identify the best value markets.

  • Tip 1: Back Mayo to Win with a Handicap of -12 Points: Last year’s final saw Kerry thrash Clare by a 14-point margin, although they haven’t at their best offensively for much of 2024. However, they seem to reserve their best performances for the Munster final, having beaten Cork by 22 points in 2021 and Limerick by a margin of 23 points 12 months later. So, there’s value in backing Kerry to win with a handicap of -12 points, especially at the enhanced price of 2.00 with Royalist Play.
  • Tip 2: Back Kerry to Win by a Margin of Between 13 and 15 Points: If you want to create greater value when backing Kerry to win, you could also consider betting on the winning margin here. Given Kerry’s likely dominance, head-to-head record vs Clare and The Kingdom’s penchant for dominant Munster finals performances, I’m expecting quite a large margin of victory for a team that’s far and away the best in its province. You can back Kerry to win by between 13 and 15 points at the competitive price of 4.00 with 1Bet Sports. This would be a good use for any free bets that you may have on your account.
  • Tip 3: Back Kerry in the Half-Time/Full-Time Market: You can also access enhanced odds on Kerry by backing them in the half-time/full-time market. Although they started slowly against Cork in the Munster semis, they generally play with high intensity and The Kingdom romped into an early 12-point lead during last season’s final against Clare. I expect them to deliver a similar performance this time around, so consider backing them to lead at both half and full-time at the slightly enhanced price of 1.08 with BoyleSports.

Clare Update

Clare have actually won four of their previous five matches in all competitions, with this sequence enabling them to finish third in Allianz Division 3 and just one point behind Westmeath in second place. This run also included a dominant win over a rejuvenated Waterford team at Fraher Field in the Munster semi-final on April 20th, as Clare ran in two goals and 20 additional points to prevail by a 14-point margin on the road. Down are the only side to defeat them since the beginning of March, although this highlighted some vulnerability in the Banner Men’s defence. This will have been noted by Kerry, while it should be noted that The Kingdom ply their trade two divisions higher in the National League.

Kerry Update

Kerry are on a four-game winning streak in all competitions, after their 10-point defeat to Allianz Division 1 rivals Dublin on February 24th. Of course, this helped the Dubs to finish above Kerry in the National League, with The Kingdom ultimately finishing third by virtue of points difference and narrowly missing out on a place in the National League finals. They remain the team to beat in Munster and one of the main contenders in the 2024 All-Ireland Championship this summer, notwithstanding their sluggish start and underwhelming performance against Cork last time out. They’re also virtually at full strength ahead of the Munster final.
