📝 Facts

  • Tottenham have made a successful start to the new season with four wins and two draws and currently occupy fourth place in the Premier League. Most recently, Spurs recorded a 2-2 draw in the top-of-the-table clash against Arsenal.
  • Liverpool, with an opening draw and five consecutive wins, have positioned themselves as Man City's main rivals in the battle for the championship. They defeated West Ham 3-1 in their most recent home game.
  • We expect an intense game on Saturday, with plenty of goals from both teams due to their attacking approach. Even though it is a relatively even match, we are leaning towards a win bet for Liverpool due to the strength of form, the quality of the squad and the historical record.

⚽ My Prediction

With the top match Tottenham against Liverpool, a true Premier League highlight is in store for us on Saturday. With both teams still unbeaten this season, we can expect a heated and hard-fought match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Both teams embody an aggressive style of play with plenty of drive for goal. We therefore expect goals to be scored on both sides.

The recent record speaks a clear language in favour of the Reds, as Spurs have not recorded a victory against Liverpool for twelve games. Jürgen Klopp's team have won nine games, while the sides have drawn three times. Liverpool also won the two direct encounters last season.

In addition, Liverpool are in extremely good form and have shown excellent morale recently. In our opinion, the Reds' squad is also better positioned across the board in a direct comparison with Tottenham. In Tottenham's favour is the home advantage and the fact that Spurs were able to rest during the week while Klopp's team had to play in the Europa League. All in all, however, we think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages in favour of the Reds. Therefore, we place a win bet on Liverpool, with the additional option that both teams will score.

💯 Odds

Our bookmakers also expect a win for the visitors, but the current betting odds point to a very even game. It is also striking that the bookmakers do not seem to have the slightest doubt that we are in for a goal firework.

🔎 Overview

The Tottenham v Liverpool match is a traditional duel that has been played for over 110 years. Liverpool have had the upper hand in 179 games, winning 86 of them. Tottenham, on the other hand, have won a total of 48 games.

Tottenham

The 2022/23 season was extremely bitter for Tottenham, as the club was in the top-7 from matchday 1 to matchday 36, but slipped to eighth place on the penultimate matchday. Thus, Spurs are excluded from international business this season. It is all the more surprising that Ange Postecoglou's team has started the new season so powerfully.

Many pundits agreed that the departure of Harry Kane will leave a huge void and lead the club into a downward spiral. But so far Heung-min Son is doing very well to replace the departing star striker. The South Korean also scored a strong brace in the recent clash against Arsenal. Nevertheless, it is important to note that the North Londoners are plagued by injuries. Especially in midfield, there are numerous absences.

Liverpool

The Reds have had a relatively disappointing season, which ended in fifth place in the table thanks to a strong final spurt. Therefore, Salah & Co. have to prove themselves in the Europa League this season, where they are considered the undisputed top favourites. After the first six match days of the Premier League, it can definitely be said that Liverpool have overcome their crisis. Jürgen Klopp's men are unbeaten in 17 league games.

Liverpool managed to keep their key players Salah and van Dijk, who were both heavily courted, during the summer break. Liverpool have also strengthened their midfield with the additions of Mac Allister, Szoboszlai and Gravenberch. So far, however, the impression has been that the newly formed command centre needs more time to settle in optimally. In addition, Klopp still has to do without Thiago, who is considered an experienced veteran in central midfield.
