Newcastle vs Nottingham

newcastle-vs-forest newcastle-vs-forest

Newcastle have had to deal with a huge number of injuries this season and were knocked out of all European competitions the other week. Despite that, I still think that they are having a pretty good season. They sit 6th in the Premier League and will be fighting it out for a Europa League spot come May. Only Villa and Man City have scored more than them, which is an impressive feat considering their long injury list.

Nottingham Forest sit at the bottom of the current form table and have recently sacked Steve Cooper. I do not believe that they will be relegated, but I do think they will be part of the relegation battle as they just cannot find the net as often as they would like - they average just one goal per match.

I can see nothing but a Newcastle win here.

Newcastle to Win1.391.421.381.431.42
Nottingham Forest to Win7.006.506.806.806.66

Bournemouth vs Fulham

bournemouth-vs-fulham bournemouth-vs-fulham

People had Bournemouth as relegation candidates not too long ago, but they have picked up form and should aim for a top-half finish this season. When it comes to form over the last six matches, they actually sit 5th in the table, winning four games and drawing one. This includes an impressive 3-0 victory over Man United at Old Trafford and a big win against Newcastle.

At the time of writing these predictions, Fulham are sitting two points above Bournemouth and occupy the 11th spot. They have been very entertaining to watch as of late, scoring and conceding goals for fun. They have no relegation fears this season, so can carry on playing in their enterprising manner.

This is a hard match to call, but I am going to back Bournemouth as they are in form and at home.

Bournemouth to Win2.
Fulham to Win2.952.902.902.953.00

Sheffield United vs Luton

sheffield-vs-luton sheffield-vs-luton

Some matches attract the attention of neutrals, but I do not consider this to be one such match. Sheffield sitting at the bottom of the table, and relegation looks like a certainty at this moment in time. Their main issue at present is that they do not score enough goals and concede too many. At the time of writing these predictions, they had managed just 13 goals in 17 matches, while conceding 43.

Luton are also really struggling, and are just one point above Sheffield in the EPL table. They have struggled to score goals as well and are also leaky in defence. I am backing both to be relegated to the Championship this season. They have improved ever so slightly as of late, but they are not collecting the necessary points.

I am backing a draw.

Sheffield to Win2.252.302.292.302.33
Luton to Win3.002.902.913.003.00

Burnley vs Liverpool

burnley-vs-liverpool burnley-vs-liverpool

Burnley are also sitting in the dreaded drop zone, and many pundits and fans believe that they will go down alongside Luton and Sheffield. They are in this predicament due to their lack of goals and the fact that they are conceding far too many. Out of their last six matches, they have collected only four points, which just screams relegation.

Liverpool sit at the other end of the spectrum and are just one point off of Arsenal, who currently sit at the top of the pile heading into the festive weekend. They are scoring two goals per match and conceding under one. This really does not bode well for those of a Burnley persuasion - maybe you should find some other way to occupy yourself when this match is on.

I would be highly surprised if Liverpool do not win this match.

Burnley to Win6.757.006.556.606.66
Liverpool to Win1.351.371.351.391.38

Manchester United vs Aston Villa

man-united-vs-aston-villa man-united-vs-aston-villa

Manchester United have been getting stick from all angles this campaign for their performances, but I think there has been a lot of exaggeration. They are currently in 7th place in the table, only six points adrift of Man City, who are in 4th place. They do not play exciting football and are boring to watch, but they are collecting points. From the last 18 that have been available, they have collected 10 of them.

Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, have been the team of the season so far. With Christmas weekend approaching, they are sitting in third place, level on points with Liverpool, and might even be top at Christmas if they win and other Matchday 18 results go their way. Only Manchester City have scored more than them, so they will back themselves to score a couple against the Red Devils. However, I see them conceding as they often do away from home.

For this match, I am backing over 2.5 goals.

Over 2.5 goals1.601.571.451.531.60
Under 2.5 goals2.222.302.502.552.30

Brentford vs Wolves

brentford-vs-wolves brentford-vs-wolves

Brentford have 19 points after 17 matches, and they definitely do not need to fear relegation this season. When they get Ivan Toney back from his suspension next month, I can see them slowly climbing the table. They are out of form at the moment as they have just the one win in their last six matches - and that was against Luton. They have also found it hard to score.

Wolves also have 19 points after 17 matches, and I think that the best that they can hope to achieve this campaign is mid-table mediocrity. They do have slightly better form than Brentford though as they have picked up 7 points from the last 18 available. Like Brentford, they have not been scoring many goals.

Brentford are decent at home, while Wolves have lost their previous four away games. Thus, my money is on Brentford.

Brentford to Win1.871.951.871.921.93
Wolves to Win3.803.603.753.803.80

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

chelsea-vs-crystal-palace chelsea-vs-crystal-palace

Given the amount of money that Chelsea have spent over the last couple of seasons, the 10th spot in the English Premier League is certainly not acceptable. They have only won six games all season, and can probably count themselves out of a European spot next season. They do seem to be finding some form in front of goal, averaging just under two goals a game.

Crystal Palace sit in 15th position, just eight points from safety. They can thank their lucky stars that they should be safe this season due to the lack of quality at the bottom of the league. Additionally, they showed in their 2-2 draw with City that they can get points against the best teams. Their main issue though is scoring since they average just one goal per match and are second-bottom in the current form table.

I think both teams will score in this game.

Everton vs Manchester City

everton-vs-manchester-city everton-vs-manchester-city

Everton had 10 points taken away for breaching fair play rules and sunk into the Relegation Zone, but five wins from their previous six matches have seen them climb to 16th, seven points ahead of the drop. During this solid run, they have scored just under two goals per match and have only conceded 5. Sean Dyche has them playing some very good football, and they would be sitting in the top half were it not for their deduction.

With regard to form over the last six matches, City are in the bottom half as they have picked up four draws, one win, and one loss. They have been conceding, on average, two goals a game, which is quite unheard of from a Pep Guardiola team. However, we all know they will pick up eventually.

I feel that City will win this match.

Everton to Win5.
Man City to Win1.561.601.571.601.60

Brighton vs Tottenham

brighton-vs-tottenham brighton-vs-tottenham

Brighton are having somewhat of a mixed bag of a season, but I think that they will be challenging for a spot in Europe when May rolls around. They play some very good attacking football because Roberto De Zerbi does not like them sitting back and defending, no matter who they are up against. Due to this, only a few teams have found the back of the net more times than they have.

Spurs are sitting in 5th position and will be fighting it out for a spot in the Champions League at the end of the season. Just like Brighton, Spurs also like to play football on the front foot, and they have no problem scoring goals. When I wrote these predictions, they had managed to find the net 35 times in 17 matches. However, they usually leave themselves vulnerable at the back due to the brand of football that they play.

I expect goals in this game, so I think both teams will score.

Arsenal vs West Ham

arsenal-vs-west-ham arsenal-vs-west-ham

Ahead of the Christmas weekend of fixtures, Arsenal sit pretty at the top of the table - however, they might not be top at Christmas, depending on what happens during Matchday 18. They have only lost one game in their last six, which was to Aston Villa. In this time, they have scored an average of two goals a match and only conceded 0.5 goals. For me, they have the second-best team in the league and will challenge City and Liverpool for the title.

West Ham currently sit in eighth place in the league and are looking for more European football next season. When it comes to recent form, they are sixth in the league. They have lost only one game in their previous six matches, a run which saw them beat their London rivals, Spurs. They will go into this match with plenty of confidence.

Arsenal have won nine and drawn one of their last ten matches at home, while West Ham have lost five of their previous ten matches away from home. I am backing Arsenal here.

Arsenal to Win1.281.301.281.321.33
West Ham to Win8.758.008.358.208.00

Boxing Day Accumulator Betting

The above matches can be bet on individually, or you can combine them into a big accumulator. When it comes to accumulator betting, your bookmaker will multiply the odds and put them into one solitary bet. This increases the total amount of money that you can potentially win. However, with this bet type, it is important to remember that you have to get all of the selections right in order to win your wager. If you miss out on just one, you lose.

Happy holidays, and good luck!

Newcastle, Bournemouth, and Liverpool to win
