Arsenal slumped to a surprise 2-1 defeat in Lens in their last Champions League encounter, with the Gunners delivering a sluggish performance in Northern France despite taking the lead through Gabriel Jesus. However, their gameweek three opponents Sevilla only won 37% of their home La Liga matches last season, while they triumphed just once at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán during their ill-fated UCL campaign in 2022/23. The Gunners also look more secure defensively since the summer signing of Declan Rice, but which team is my pick to win in Southern Spain? Read on to learn more and check out the matches ante post football betting markets.
🏆 Sevilla v Arsenal UCL Prediction
These two teams have only met twice competitively in their respective histories, during the group stage of the 2007/08 Champions League. While Arsenal won the first encounter 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium, Sevilla gained revenge by defeating the Gunners 3-1 at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán nine weeks later. Neither side has consistently qualified for the UCL, although Sevilla have won the UEFA Europa League on five occasions since their last match against the Gunners.
Interestingly, this is Arsenal’s first campaign in the UCL since the 2016/17 season, when they were eliminated in the round of 16 after a 10-2 aggregate thrashing by Bayern Munich. However, Mikel Arteta has carefully cultivated an impressive playing squad and culture at the Emirates in recent years, while his team is comfortable with the ball at their feet and has averaged 60.5% possession in their matches so far this season.
Conversely, Sevilla only have 52% of the ball on average at home, so I expect the Gunners to control the game from the outset and set a tempo that suits them. While they’ll have to guard against their opponent’s intelligent pressing and threat on the counterattack, I’m tipping Arsenal to edge a tight match and win by the odd goal in Spain.
My Prediction: 🏆Sevilla 1 Arsenal 2⚽
💯 Sevilla v Arsenal UCL Match Odds

🥇 Sevilla v Arsenal: Match Winner
Let’s start with the match-winner odds, which make Arsenal the clear favourites to prevail at the time of writing. However, Sevilla can also be backed at an average price of 4.00, so the bookies are clearly expecting a relatively tight game.

Sevilla v Arsenal: Both Teams To Score
When betting on both sides to score (BTTS) or not, you should note that Arsenal have kept four clean sheets in their five away matches so far this season. However, Sevilla have only kept two clean sheets in 11 games across all competitions, so what do the bookies say?

✔️ Sevilla v Arsenal - Betting Tips
Depending on your choice of sportsbook, you may be able to use free bets and welcome or reload bonuses to boost your potential returns. Also, I’ve prepared the following Sevilla v Arsenal betting tips to help you make more informed selections.
- Back Arsenal to Win: Sevilla’s home form over the course of the last 18 months has been sketchy, as they only won seven league games at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán last season and had La Liga’s third-worst record in front of their own fans. Conversely, Arsenal continue to excel on their travels, having only conceded twice away from home so far this season (both against Lens) and played with tremendous control on the road. So, consider backing the Gunners to win at the competitive price of 1.83 with Betway.
- Bet on There Being Over 2.5 Goals Scored: Matches involving these teams in 2023/24 have produced an average of 2.85 goals per game, while 80% of all encounters at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán this season have yielded more than 2.5 goals per game too. Sevilla also managed an average of 16.88 shots per 90 minutes (the second-highest amount in La Liga), with Arsenal’s tally only slightly lower at 14.12. So, there’s good value in betting on over 2.5 goals being scored at a price of 1.80 with Dachbet.
- Back Arsenal to Win and Both Sides to Score: While I’m tipping Arsenal to win, there isn’t a huge amount of value in backing the Gunners to prevail at around 1.85. However, you could consider creating a combination bet that also backs both sides to score. This unlocks significantly enhanced odds, while also reflecting the relative goal threat boasted by both sides.
1️⃣ Sevilla Update
Sevilla are currently 14th in La Liga and yet to win in the Champions League this season, as their disappointing and inconsistent form from last season continues unabated. To this end, they’ve only won two of their previous 10 league matches, losing six games during this sequence and shipping 16 goals. Interestingly, they’ve also failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last four games in all competitions, since a 0-0 draw at Osasuna on September 23rd. However, they’ve also scored nine times during this run, including five against Almeria on September 26th.

Sevilla 5 Almeria 1 | 26.09.23 La Liga |

Sevilla’s squad is in good shape ahead of the visit of Arsenal, with 30-year-old striker Mariano Díaz the sole absentee as he continues to struggle with a muscle injury. Otherwise, the team should be at full strength and raring to go in front of an impassioned home crowd!

2️⃣ Arsenal Update
The Gunners currently sit joint top of the EPL form table over the course of the last 10 matches, during which time they’ve won seven games, lost just once and earned an impressive 23 points. They’ve also won four of their last five league games, only dropping points in a thrilling 2-2 with North London rivals Tottenham on September 24th. As I’ve already touched on, the side also tends to be far more defensively sound and solid away from home, with Lens the only side to score against them on their travels in five matches so far this season.

Dutch defender Jurrien Timber is Arsenal’s only long-term absentee ahead of their trip to Sevilla, as he continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament rupture. However, influential centre-back William Saliba (toe) and winger Bukayo Saka (thigh) are both slight doubts at the time of writing, potentially creating a much larger selection headache for Mikel Arteta.
