After Inter defeated RB Salzburg at the San Siro in Champions League gameweek three, their potential path to the last 16 was made clear. More specifically, they simply need to defeat the same opponents at the Stadion Wals-Siezenheim on November 8th, and regardless of the result between Sociedad and Benfica, this will be enough for Inter to reach the knockout stages. Unsurprisingly, the market leading betting sites have made Inter favourites to achieve this objective, with Simone Inzaghi’s men having lost just three of their previous 16 UCL games. But will they prevail in Austria, or can the home side keep their own hopes of qualification alive?
🏆 Red Bull Salzburg v Inter Milan UCL Prediction
The clash at the San Siro in October was the first ever between these two sides, but there may be many more to come in the future. After all, Inter were beaten finalists in last season’s Champions League, while Salzburg have now reached the tournament’s group stages for four successive campaigns.
The bad news for Salzburg is that their form this season has been patchy, both at home and abroad, with just three wins in their last seven Austrian Bundesliga games. They’ve also lost two of their three UCL group games in 2023/24 (including the 2-1 defeat to Inter on October 24th), while underperforming their xG value by 1.4 to highlight a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.
Inter have fared even worse by this metric, as they’ve only managed to score four goals in this season’s UCL from an expected goals value of 6.6 (which is only bettered by defending champions Manchester City). However, they remain in a rich vein of away form, having only lost one of their previous 14 games on the road in all competitions since March 10th. They’ve also won all five of their Serie A matches on the road in 2023/24, scoring 12 goals and conceding just once in the process.
Ultimately, Inter should have a little too much experience and know-how for their opponents, while the team’s defensive organisation and excellent away form is hard to ignore. So, I’m backing Inter to win in a close and potentially low-scoring game.
My Prediction: 🏆 RB Salzburg 0 – 2 Inter ⚽

🏅 Red Bull Salzburg v Inter Milan: Match Winner
The bookies have certainly made Inter their ante post favourites, while an average price of 1.57 implying a probability of 63.69% that Inter will beat their opponents. Conversely, Salzburg can be backed at around 5.50 to beat their opponents, so statistically speaking, they only have an 18.18% chance of winning!

⚽ Red Bull Salzburg v Inter Milan: Both Teams To Score
Despite Inter’s relative profligacy in the Champions League, they’ve scored in all of their 14 matches in Serie A and the UCL since the beginning of the season. They’ve also kept an impressive eight clean sheets. While Salzburg have drawn three blanks this season (including a 2-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad on October 3rd), they’ve scored in 15 matches in total and also struck through Oscar Gloukh at the San Siro.

If you want to access the over/under on the total number of goals scored in the game, 2.5 goals remains the single most popular betting line. There’s good reason for this too, as the 33 matches contested by Salzburg and Inter through 2023/24 have produced 95 goals at a rate of 2.87 per game!

✔️ Red Bull Salzburg v Inter Milan - Betting Tips
Whichever site you choose to bet with from Betinireland’s comprehensive bookmaker reviews, you’ll be able to access all of these markets and more when wagering on RB Salzburg vs Inter. But which offer the most value? Here are some betting tips to help you make informed picks! Matched betting could aid your betting decision when used correctly, read our guide to learn more.
- Tip 1: Back Inter to Win and Both Sides Not to Score: Inter’s defensive strength and organisation was key to their run to the 2023/24 final, while they’ve kept an impressive eight clean sheets in 14 of their matches through 2023/24. Incredibly, four of these clean sheets were also achieved in six games on the road, with Real Sociedad and Atalanta the only teams to score against Inter during these matches. So, there’s some value to be found in backing Inter to win and both sides not to score at an enhanced price of 2.88 with LegendPlay.
- Tip 2: Back Inter to Win With a Handicap of -1.25 Goals: As I’ve already touched on, Inter have kept clean sheets in 57.14% of their games this season and conceded a paltry eight goals in 14 matches. At the same time, they’ve scored 31 goals at a rate of 2.21 per game, so you may want to create further value in match betting by backing Inter to win with a small handicap of -1.25 goals at a price of 2.25 with Dachbet Sports. This is a slightly higher risk wager, of course, but you may be able to offset this slightly by managing your stake or leveraging a free bet on your account.
- Tip 3: Back Inter to Win to Nil: RB Salzburg have already drawn three blanks at home this season, while their G-xG value of 1.4 highlights their lack of efficiency in front of goal. They’ve also produced just 62 shot-creating actions in the UCL so far. Given this and Inter’s aforementioned defensive strength, you could also consider backing Inter to win to nil at the surprisingly competitive price of 2.63 with Betway.
1️⃣ RB Salzburg Update
At the time of writing, RB Salzburg are without a staggering nine first-team players, including four key defensive stalwarts. I’ll touch on this further below, but it has undoubtedly contributed to RB Salzburg’s patchy run of form and sequence of three wins, two draws and two defeats in seven Austrian Bundesliga matches. This has seen their lead to the top of the table cut to just two points by Strum Graz, while their impressive 2-0 win at Benfica back on September 20th has since been undermined by consecutive defeats to Sociedad and Inter at the San Siro and left them struggling in their bid to qualify from Champions League Group D.

It may be easier to list which RB Salzburg players are fit to face Inter, with Sekou Koita (pulled muscle), Fernando (muscle injury) and Lukas Wallner (torn ligaments) all unavailable for selection. Justin Omoregi also remains absent with a back injury, while centre back Bryan Okoh has suffered a reoccurrence of his hamstring strain. Elsewhere, left back Aleksa Terzic (adductor injury) and Maurits Kjaergaard (shoulder) are more recent additions to Salzburg’s injury list, while young midfielder Kamil Piatkowski is set to miss out with a calf injury too. Dijon Kameri is a doubt with a thing strain.

2️⃣ Inter Update
Inter currently sit top of Serie A, having won nine (81.82%) of their 11 matches so far and experienced a single, surprise defeat at home to Sassuolo on September 27th. Since this loss, the team is also unbeaten in seven games in all competitions, while last season’s beaten UCL finalists have also been defeated just once in 14 away trips dating back to March 10th. In this campaign alone, they’ve won five and drawn one of their six away games, conceding just two goals during this run and keeping an impressive four clean sheets. So, they’ll arrive in Austria in confident mood and will expect to claim another three points on the road here.

Unlike RB Salzburg, Inter have a largely fully fit squad to choose from ahead of their trip to Austria. More specifically, striker Marko Arnautović is now fully recovered from a thigh injury, leaving just Benjamin Pavard (patellar tendon dislocation) and veteran wing back Juan Cuadrado (tendinitis) as the only confirmed absentees.
