Both Lens and Sevilla have already been eliminated from this season’s Champions League, as while the Ligue 1 side could theoretically finish level on points with second place PSV, they have an inferior head-to-head record against their Dutch opponents. However, they only need a point to secure a Europa League place for the second half of the season, and will be confident of achieving this at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. However, a win of any description for Sevilla would see them claim third place in Group B, but which side do I think will prevail and what do the best betting sites think?

🏆 RC Lens v Sevilla UCL Prediction

The gameweek one clash between these two sides in Seville was their first ever UCL encounter, with the match ending in a close and tentative 1-1 draw. This result has afforded the La Liga side a small chance of reaching the UEFA Europa League, as a victory by any margin in France will see them progress by virtue of a superior h2h record against Lens.

However, this will be a tough assignment for an injury-hit Sevilla, who are in poor form and have won just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions. They’re also winless in all five UCL contests in 2023/24, while their lack of confidence was exposed when they blew a 2-0 lead against PSV at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to lose 3-2 in gameweek five.

As for Lens, their upturn in form has been remarkable. After losing four of their first five matches this season, they’ve gone unbeaten in nine domestic games since September 16th, while they’ve only lost two out of their last 14 contests in all competitions. However, one such defeat saw them hammered 6-0 at Arsenal in gameweek five, so the side isn’t infallible and can be exploited defensively.

Lens are unbeaten in seven at home, however, and while both sides have produced an xG value of 4.7 and are among the worst performing teams in the competitions according to this metric, the Ligue 1 outfit are genuinely well organised and have won 58.2% of their tackles in the competition. So, I’m backing Lens to win by the odd goal in a low scoring encounter!

My Prediction: 🏆 RC Lens 1 – 0 Sevilla ⚽

💯 RC Lens v Sevilla UCL Match Odds

You can safely wager on this match at any of the sportsbooks recommended by Betinreland’s bookmaker reviews, while there are plenty of betting markets available. I’ve summarised the three most popular below, while also including the very latest odds!

🏅 RC Lens v Sevilla: Match Winner

Betting on the match winner is the most popular market, with Lens the early favourites and priced at around 2.15 to win. This implies a 46.51% probability of the Ligue 1 side prevailing, while Sevilla can backed at an average price of 3.40. This means that they have a 29.41% chance of winning, while a similar percentage also applies to the draw.

⚽ RC Lens v Sevilla: Both Teams To Score

As for Sevilla, both teams have found the net in 16 of their 21 contests in all competitions, although they have kept only three clean sheets so far and drawn three blanks.

✔️ RC Lens v Sevilla - Betting Tips

Navigating these markets successfully can be challenging, especially given the evenly matched nature of both sides and precisely what’s at stake. However, I’ve prepared some expert betting tips to help you make the most of your bankroll or any available free bets on your account!

  • Tip 3: Back Lens to Win With Under 2.5 Goals Scored: Matched betting may be a viable use of your free bets here, as you can lay a back wager on Lens to win while ensuring some kind of return. Combination betting also unlocks value here, as you can back Lens to win with under 2.5 goals scored at a price of 4.50 with Betway. This reflects the relative lack of attacking potency on both sides and Lens’ undoubted defensive resilience and organisation (especially at home).
  • Tip 3: Back Lens to Win by a Single Goal: Whichever team triumphs in this match, it’s unlikely that we’re going to see a sizable winning margin. In the case of Lens, for example, five of their seven victories in 2023/24 have been by a single goal, while four of Sevilla’s last five defeats since September 26th have been by the odd goal too. So, there’s genuine value in backing Lens to win by a single goal at an enhanced price of 4.00 with TonyBet.
  • Tip 3: Back Elye Wahi as an Anytime Goalscorer: Between them, Lens and Sevilla have only scored 10 goals in UCL 10 matches through 2023/24. However, Lens striker Elye Wahi has two Champions League goals to his name this season, which have come from 13 attempts and an individual xG value of just 1.1. So, he’s Lens’ most likely match winner in France, while he can be backed as an anytime goalscorer at a price of 2.75 with Dachbet Sports.

1️⃣ RC Lens Update

Lens’ manager Franck Haise must be given credit for turning around his team’s form, especially after a difficult summer that saw the side lose talismanic striker Loïs Openda and midfielder star Seko Fofana. Since a 1-0 reversal at home to Metz on September 16th, they’ve lost just two of 14 matches in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, while they’ve also remained unbeaten at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis (winning five and drawing two of their seven home games). Overall, the side has only lost one of their nine home matches through 2023/24, so it’s easy to see why they’re the favourites to beat Sevilla.

Lens remain without right-sided midfielder Jimmy Cabot for the visit of Sevilla, as he continues his extended recovery from a cruciate ligament tear. Fellow winger Oscar Cortes is ineligible for Champions League football, but while forward Florian Sotoca is suspended for domestic games, he’s available for matches in the UCL at present.

2️⃣ Sevilla Update

Sevilla’s recent malaise has produced a mixed bag of form, as while they’re winless in 13 matches in all competitions since a 5-1 thrashing of La Liga whipping boys Almeira on September 26th, they’ve actually only lost five of these games. This sequence has included eight draws (including five successive La Liga ties between October 7th and November 12th), although Diego Alonso’s men have lost three successive Champions League matches against Arsenal (twice) and PSV amid a mounting injury crisis. The home defeat to PSV was particularly devastating, as Pepi’s stoppage time winner for the Eredivisie side eliminated Sevilla from Champions League contention.

Sevilla’s absentees include defenders Marcao and Loïc Badé (both muscle injuries), Marcos Acuña (hip) and Tanguy Nianzou (hamstring), while experienced right back Jesus Navas will also miss out with a hamstring strain. Keeper Ørjan Nyland is absent with hip problems, while defensive midfielder Boubakary Soumaré may miss out with an ankle knock too. Erik Lamela is sidelined with a muscle injury, as is fellow winger Suso. To make matter worse, veteran midfielder Fernando will serve a one-match ban against Lens, while Lucas Ocampos is also suspended after being dismissed against PSV.
