Royal Antwerp have endured a challenging Champions League campaign so far, losing all three of their matches and shipping 12 goals in total. They were also thumped 4-1 by Porto at the Bosuilstadion in gameweek three, as Alhassan Yusuf’s 37th minute opener was cancelled out by four second half goals. Another defeat in Portugal would also see Antwerp eliminated from the competition, while Porto could all but seal a place in the last 16 if they win and Shakhtar Donetsk are beaten by Barcelona. But what do the ante post football betting odds tell us, and who will win at the Estádio do Dragão?

🏆 FC Porto v Royal Antwerp

During their history, Antwerp have only contested five matches in the European Cup or Champions League, including three in the 2023/24 campaign so far. Otherwise, their last appearance in the competition came in the 1957/58 season, when they were eliminated in the first round.

Porto are also two-time Champions League winners, while they’ve been much more impressive in this season’s Champions League too. For example, Porto have attempted 37 shots on goal (compared to just 26 for Antwerp), while the Portuguese have produced more shot-creating actions per 90 (23.33 vs 16.67) so far.

While Porto have averaged slightly more possession in the tournament so far, Antwerp has actually had more of the ball in the reverse fixture, with Porto content to play on the counterattack and exploit the Belgian’s defensive vulnerability.

This ploy worked superbly, although I expect Porto to take a keen hold of possession in front of their own fans and be more dominant from the outset. They’re also in much better form than Antwerp overall and have superior individual quality, so I’m predicting a comfortable win for the home side.

My Prediction: 🏆 FC Porto 3 – 0 Royal Antwerp ⚽

💯 FC Porto v Royal Antwerp UCL Match Odds

There are plenty of ways in which you can wager on the match between FC Porto and Royal Antwerp, whether you want to back the match winner, bet on BTTS or access the over/under on total goals scored in the game. But how are these markets being priced by Betinireland’s betting sites? Let’s find out!

FC Porto v Royal Antwerp: Match Winner

Porto are huge favourites to beat Antwerp here, thanks in part to the fact that the side has lost just twice at home in 2023/24. Conversely, Antwerp have won just two of their eight games on the road in all competitions, while experiencing away defeats against Anderlecht, Charleroi, Club Brugge and Barcelona.

FC Porto v Royal Antwerp: Both Teams To Score

Antwerp have failed to score in five of the 20 matches they’ve contested this season, which means that they’ve found the target in 75% of their games. Interestingly, Porto have drawn a blank in four of the 16 matches they’ve played, while they’ve also kept four clean sheets across all competitions. So, what price can you get on both sides to score here?

FC Porto v Royal Antwerp: Over/Under 2.5 Goals

When betting on the over/under for the total number of goals scored in the game, you should know that the 35 matches contested by both sides have yielded 95 goals at a rate of 2.71 per 90 minutes. So, the odds are implying a greater probability of there being more than 2.5 goals scored in the game!

✔️ FC Porto v Royal Antwerp - Betting Tips

The questions that remain, of course, are which betting markets offer the most value, and how should you best deploy any free bet offers or bonuses that you may have? Here are some betting tips to keep in mind!

  • Tip 1: Back Porto to Win to Nil: There’s little value to be found in backing Porto to win outright, especially at an average price of just 1.33. However, you can back Porto to win to nil at the much more competitive price of 2.25 with TonyBet, with this reflecting Antwerp’s lack of attacking output, inconsistent form of late and the side’s mounting injury list.
  • Tip 2: Back Both Sides Not to Score: Similarly, you can bet on both sides not to score at the Estádio do Dragão at a *TonyBet-Sports [price of 1.80 with TonyBet]*, which offers genuine value given Antwerp’s struggles and lack of creativity at the highest level. While Porto have only kept one clean sheet at home this season, I expect them dominate this game and ultimately minimise Antwerp’s threat in transition.
  • Tip 3: Back Porto to Win With a Handicap of -1.75 Goals: If Porto are able to keep a clean sheet and punish Antwerp effectively in the final third, you could also create further value by backing them to win with a handicap of -1.75 goals at the enhanced price of 2.25 with LegendPlay Sports. Of course, this is a slightly higher risk wager, so consider tailoring your stake to factor in this consideration and your potential returns.

1️⃣ Porto Update

Port endured a shock 1-0 defeat to Estoril last time out at the Estádio do Dragão, with Scottish midfielder Jordan Holsgrove scoring a 75th minute winner. This was their second defeat of the season at home, following the 1-0 loss to Barcelona in Champions League gameweek two. Ultimately, Porto’s goal return in 2023/24 has been relatively poor, with the side scoring 22 goals in 15 matches at a rate of 1.46 per game, although they managed to bolster this significantly by beating Antwerp 4-1 in gameweek three. They’ll hope for more of the same this time around!

Porto are still missing the 36-year-old centre back Iván Marcano for the visit of Antwerp, as he continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament tear sustained on September 16th. Skilful wide player Gabriel Veron has also been ruled out until the New Year with a torn thigh muscle, while Galento and left back Wendell will both face late fitness tests have missed three games with unknown injuries (but are expected to be available).

2️⃣ Royal Antwerp Update

Antwerp have endured a difficult 2023/24 campaign in defence of their Belgian title, which they won for the first time in 66 years last season. A combination of injuries and the demands of Champions League football have left the side sixth in the Pro League and 11 points behind leaders Union Saint-Gilloise, with Antwerp having won five, drawn five and lost three of their 13 league games so far. Remember, they’re also winless in three UCL games, while they’ve lost all five Champions League matches in their history and shipped 20 goals during this sequence.
