Inter’s impressive 1-0 win over Benfica in game week two afforded the Serie A side their first Champions League victory of the campaign, while leaving them on four points and in the group’s second qualification spot. However, gameweek three rivals RB Salzburg are just a point and a place behind inter ahead of their trip to the San Siro and the first of a potentially decisive double header between the two sides, so this match could have a key bearing on who eventually makes the knockout stages. But what odds have been set by the best UCL betting sites, and who do I think will prevail? Read on to find out more!

🏆 Inter vs RB Salzburg UCL Prediction

While these sides contested two friendly matches in the 2022/23 season, they’ve never previously done battle in UEFA competition. However, RB Salzburg are now regulars in the Champions League proper, having qualified for the group stages in four consecutive campaigns after previously only doing so once as Casino Salzburg in 1994/95.

However, Salzburg’s form has become a little patchy of late, as the side continues to suffer from a significant injury crisis. The has contributed to a run where they’ve won just three of their last six matches, while slumping to a surprise 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Blau-Weiß Linz in the Austrian Bundesliga on September 23rd. The side was also comfortably beaten by Real Sociedad in gameweek 2 of the UCL, although it should be noted that they’ve yet to lose on the road so far this season.

For their part, Inter have been slightly more consistent in 2023/24, largely shaking off any hangover from their Champions League final defeat to Manchester City by winning seven and losing just one of their 10 matches so far. Inter have also won 25 of their 34 home games in all competitions since the beginning of the 2022/23 season, so I’m backing them to edge RB Salzburg in an entertaining match in which both sides score.

My Prediction: 🏆 Inter 2 – 1 RB Salzburg ⚽

💯 Inter vs RB Salzburg UCL Match Odds

As with most Champions League matches, there’s a broad range of football betting markets available when wagering on Inter vs RB Salzburg. These include the match winner, both sides to score (BTTS) and the over/under for total goals scored, but which of these offer the most value in the ante post marketplace?

🏅 Inter vs RB Salzburg: Match Winner

Inter’s relatively impressive home form and recent performances in the UCL make them the odds-on favourite to beat Salzburg at the San Siro, while the Austrian champions are priced at an average of 9.00 to take all three points in Italy!

⚽ Inter vs RB Salzburg: Both Teams To Score

Not only is backing both sides to score (or not) an even money market, but the bookies also appear to have hedged their bets in this respect when it comes to the Inter v RB Salzburg match. Here are the very latest BTTS odds!

🥅 Inter vs RB Salzburg: Over/Under 2.5 Goals

When it comes to the over/under market for total goals scored in the match between Inter and RB Salzburg, the most popular betting line is 2.5. The stats suggest that you’d be best served by wagering on over 2.5 goals being scored too, with the 23 matches contested by Inter and RB Salzburg so far this season producing 70 goals at a rate of 3.04 per game.

✔️ Inter vs RB Salzburg - Betting Tips

Regardless of your own match predictions and preferred betting markets, it can be hard to identify value in the ante post odds in some instances. So, I’ve prepared some insightful wagering tips to help you achieve the most value for your hard-earned cash.

  • Tip 1: Back Inter to Win and Both Sides to Score: There isn’t a great deal of value in backing Inter to win outright here, especially with the short odds not fully reflective of the threat and quality boasted by RB Salzburg. The Austrian side has also scored in all but two of its 13 matches in all competitions so far this season, so there’s value in constructing a combination bet that backs Inter to win and both sides to score at a competitive price of 2.20 with LegendPlay.
  • Tip 2: Back Inter to Win and There to be Over 2.5 Goals Scored: Another viable combination wager would see you simultaneously back Inter to win and there to be over 2.5 goals scored in the match. This is available at a price of 1.91 with Betway, with the odds definitely implying a higher probability of more than 2.5 goals being scored during the 90 minutes. Remember, the matches featuring these sides in 2023/24 have also yielded an impressive goals-per-game rate of 3.04.
  • Tip 3: Back Lautaro Martínez to Score First: If you have a free bet you’d like to deploy or are in the market for a high-risk wager, consider backing Lautaro Martinez to open the scoring. Inter are certainly likely to start on the front foot at the San Siro, while Martinez has already scored 11 goals in just 10 appearances so far this season (including a crucial late equaliser at Real Sociedad in UCL gameweek one). You can get on this at a price of 3.90 with Dachbet, but we’d recommend betting with a nominal stake that helps you to manage your increased risk.

1️⃣ Inter Update

Inter’s 1-0 win over Benfica in gameweek two was achieved through a relatively dominant performance, which was built on the team’s trademarks of structured possession and excellent defensive organisation. Inter also pressed well and have done all season, completing the third highest number of ball recoveries (122) in the UCL during the 2023/24 campaign. This has helped Inter to defend higher up the pitch, resulting in the concession of just six goals in their 10 completed matches this season. They’ve also kept six clean sheets, while scoring a healthy 23 goals at a rate of 2.30 per game.

Inter will be without veteran striker Marko Arnautović against RB Salzburg, as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury (he’s expected to be back in time for the match with Juventus in November). 35-year-old wing back Juan Cuadrado also remains a doubt with ongoing tendinitis, which has caused significant disruption to the player’s season so far.

Juan Cuadrado Tendinitis

2️⃣ RB Salzburg Update

I’ll touch more on RB Salzburg’s mounting injury list below, but enforced absences have definitely contributed to the side’s recent run of three wins in six games. However, the team has remained resilient and still managed to achieve a total win-rate of 76.92% across all competitions so far this season, while they also looked superb in defeating Benfica 2-0 at the Estádio da Luz on September 20th. However, a subsequent home loss to Real Sociedad has left them ideally needing to get a result at the San Siro to maintain realistic hopes of qualification. One thing’s for sure, Salzburg will be competitive against Inter, having already completed an impressive 140 ball recoveries in the UCL (second only to Galatasaray) and recorded an expected goals tally of 3.9 in two games.

Currently, Salzburg are without Maurits Kjaergaard (foot injury), Sekou Koita (pulled muscle), Fernando (muscle injury), Moussa Kounfolo Yeo (ankle injury), who are all projected to return to training at the beginning of November. Lukas Waller (ligament injury) and Justin Omoregie (back) are also doubts for the trip to Inter, while an illness has also swept through the camp and affected Luka Sucic and Dijon Kameri. However, there’s some good news in that centre back Bryan Okoh is back in training and may well be fit enough to start at the San Siro.
