Braga came through two qualifying rounds to reach the group stages of the Champions League, after earning a third-place finish in the Primeira Liga in 2022/23. The side’s thrilling 3-2 win at Union Berlin last time out also kickstarted their UCL campaign, while they have an impressive domestic home record that has seen them lose just six out of 38 matches at the Estádio Municipal de Braga since the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign. However, Madrid remain omnipotent in the Champions League and currently top La Liga too, so remain the overwhelming favourites to win in Portugal. Here’s my detailed Braga vs Madrid football betting guide and personal take on who will win!
🏆 Braga vs Real Madrid UCL Prediction
Given the chasm that exists between these two sides in terms of their historic attainment and pedigree, it’s not really surprising that they’ve never met before in competitive matches. It’s also interesting to note that Real Madrid have played a staggering 478 matches in European Cup and Champions League tournaments (winning 287 of these), while Braga have only contested 24 since first qualifying for the UCL ahead of the 2010/11 season.
Of course, both sides are more evenly matched in terms of their most recent form, with Braga winning their last four matches in all competitions (scoring 13 goals during this run) and Los Blancos also claiming four consecutive victories since a 3-1 defeat to bitter rivals Atletico on September 24th. However, Madrid’s run of good form also extends back to the tail end of last season, with the recent derby loss the side’s sole defeat in 14 matches since May 1st.
So, while Madrid are far from fallible and can occasionally be vulnerable in defensive transitions, they’re incredibly hard to beat and currently boast arguably the world’s best player in midfielder Jude Bellingham. Given this and Madrid’s superior individual quality, I’m backing them to record a comfortable victory at the Estádio Municipal de Braga.
My Prediction: 🏆 Braga 1 - 3 Real Madrid ⚽

✔️Braga vs Real Madrid - Betting Tips
There are some relatively short price outcomes and markets in play here, and navigating these in a way that optimises your potential returns can be challenging. So, I’ve prepared some insightful betting tips to help you get the most from your starting bankroll!
- Tip 1: Back Madrid to Win and Both Sides to Score: You can get a market high price of 1.50 on Los Blancos to beat Braga, but this offers minimal value when wagering with a nominal stake. However, both of these sides have potent attacks, while Braga haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their previous eight matches across all competitions. So, consider building a combination bet that backs Madrid to win and both sides to score at a price of 2.70 with Betway, as this will create additional value without incurring significantly higher risk.
- Tip 2: Back There to be Over 2.5 Goals Scored: You can also bet on over 2.5 goals being scored in the game at a price of 1.48 with Betway, which seems like a no-brainer given the respective attacking qualities of each side. Also, Braga and Madrid have played a combined total of 25 matches so far this season, with these producing 86 goals at an impressive rate of 3.44 per game.
- Tip 3: Back Madrid with a Small Handicap of -1.5 Goals: Another way to create value when backing Madrid to win is by applying a small handicap to the favourites, in this case of -1.5 goals. While this incurs greater risk by requiring Los Blancos to win by two clear goals or more, it arguably reflects the difference in quality between the two sides and their respective Euro Club Index ratings (2nd vs 47th). You can back Madrid to win with a -1.5-goal handicap at a price of 2.30 with LegendPlay, while this wager is ideal when leveraging a free bet offer at your chosen sportsbook.
1️⃣ Braga Update
You’re almost guaranteed an entertaining contest when Braga play, with the team’s previous seven matches alone producing a total of 31 goals at a rate of 4.42 per game. This stat highlights both the team’s attacking qualities and its defensive vulnerabilities, with the enforced absence of 23-year-old right back Víctor Gómez certainly making Braga more porous. However, Braga’s form has definitely improved of late after a difficult start to the season, with the team’s recent four-match winning run following a period of just one victory in four across all competitions. So, they should at least kick off against Madrid in more confident mood!

Aside from the muscle injury to Víctor Gómez (which is likely to rule the Spaniard out of the clash against Madrid), Sporting Braga are all at full strength ahead of Los Blancos’ visit. This will afford them the best possible chance of creating a Champions League shock!

2️⃣ Real Madrid Update
Madrid have been typically efficient in both the attacking and defensive thirds so far this season, despite not yet hitting top gear. This is reflected by their performance in relation to expected goals, with Los Blancos having scored 2.7 goals more than projected so far this season. They’ve also outperformed their expected goals-against tally by a whopping 5.50 in La Liga, while losing just one of their previous 14 games dating back to the end of 2022/23 campaign. Jude Bellingham embodies Madrid’s effectiveness this season too, scoring 10 goals and registering three assists in 10 just appearances while also providing an impressive 24 shot-creating actions.

Madrid could be boosted by the return of experienced Austrian defender David Alaba in Portugal, as he completes his recovery from adductor problems. However, keeper Thibaut Courtois and centre-back Éder Militão (both ruptured cruciate ligaments) remain long-term absentees, while backup goalie Andriy Lunin is also a doubt with a back complaint.
